The Network
of Ethnic Physician Organizations has undertaken
a project to raise public and provider awareness
of the need for cancer screening in the Latino,
Asian, Pacific Islander and American Indian
communities.
- Ads have run in 34 ethnic
newspapers, tapping New California Media’s
social marketing expertise.
- Culturally appropriate,
in-language health education materials are
being developed with L.A. Care’s cultural
and linguistic services department with
input from an Expert Panel of ethnic physicians
and community based organizations.
The project, supported by The
California Endowment, has the potential both
to directly impact the cancer rates of California’s
ethnic minorities and to build substantial relationships
between physicians and the media. |
