Break out Sessions

1. Working with Health Plans to Provide Care in a Multicultural Community. Facilitators, Gerald Bishop, MD, Aetna. Ed Mendoza, MPH, Office of the Patient Advocate, Diana Carr, MS, Latino Health Programs, HealthNet, David Pryor, MD, Medical Director, Blue Cross. This breakout session will include health plan representatives ready to address issues regarding services and assistance they offer to help physicians provide care to a multicultural patient base.

2. Racial and Ethnic Differences in Response to Medicines. Michael A. LeNoir, MD, Director of the Bay Area Multicultural Clinical Research Center, Richard Allen Williams, MD, President and CEO, Minority Health Institute. This breakout session will address the growing body of research, which indicates there are varying responses to medicines observed among different ethnic and racial groups.

3. Language Access. Facilitator: Sandy Close, New California Media. Statewide Survey Presentation. Results will be presented on language access for 10 immigrant communities. The workshop will provide the opportunity for ethnic physicians to share their feedback and impressions of survey results.
